Description

A Father Friendly Provider Network Training

This training will highlight best practices for providing supportive services for LGBTQ, non-binary, and gender-expansive individuals in father-figure roles. We will explore the breadth of identities associated with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) communities, as well as the challenging life circumstances and multiple forms of discrimination that affect well-being. Participants will learn to utilize culturally competent language and behavior for working with this population, and increase their knowledge of social determinants of health, disparities, health care access, legal, and policy issues that impact LGBTQ individuals in father-figure roles. Participants will work together to develop concrete strategies to scenarios they may encounter in their work, and explore LGBTQ-affirming practices and systems for effective service provision. Interactive, multimodal, solutions-oriented, and engaging, this training will provide opportunities for learning and problem solving at all knowledge levels.

3 Continuing Education Units are avaialble for a fee for RNs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LEPs, LPCCs.

A complimentary lunch will be provided.
